Patricio Javier Astudillo

PhD student @FEops on Simulation of transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement

Patricio Javier Astudillo, born in 1985, completed his BSc in Digital Arts & Entertainment (HOWEST) in Kortrijk and his MSc in Civil Engineering - Computer Science (VUB) in Brussels, both Cum Laude. In his master thesis, he developed a distributed back-in-time debugger for ambient-oriented programs. After working as a R&D software engineer at Amadeus Nice in France, he's currently working at FEops (a spin-off of the UGent) as a Marie Curie fellow within the MUSICA project (MUltiSectoral Integrative approaches to CArdiac care) and a PhD candidate at the UGent. The scope of his research on simulation of trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) include improving algorithms of the finite element analyses (FEA), verifying the automation possibilities for handling medical- and 3/4D images and validating novel 3/4D visualization techniques with patient data.
