Giorgia Rocatello

PhD student @UGENT on Simulation of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)

Giorgia Rocatello was born in Italy in 1989. She obtained her bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering at Universita' degli studi di Padova (Padua, Italy) in 2012, and her master degree at Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy) in 2015. She worked on her master thesis at Universiteit Gent (Ghent, Belgium), within a collaboration between the Ibitech-Biommeda research group at Ugent and the Laboratory of biological structure mechanics at Politecnico di Milano. During this project, she performed fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulations of aortic valves using an innovative FSI environment in Abaqus. Currently, she is a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at Ugent within the MUSICA (MUltiSectoral Integrative approaches to CArdiac care) project. Her research, in collaboration with FEops, a spin-off company from Ugent, focuses on mechanical simulations of transcatheter aortic valve implantations (TAVI), as a tool for procedural planning able to predict related outcomes.
