IMPERIAL is a science-based institution with an international reputation for teaching and research. The Unit involved in the project is the Biomedical Engineering Research Group in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Lead Scientist: Xiao Yun Xu, PhD in Mechanical Engineering (1992), Professor of Biofluid Mechanics and Director of Postgraduate Studies. Started her research career in biomedical engineering since 1989, she has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal papers and supervised 36 PhD students. Key competences of the unit: biofluid mechanics and biotransport, biological systems engineering, nanoparticle technology.
