Dario Farotto

PhD student @MATERIALISE on Implementation of a tool for scaffold design with application in the engineering of heart valves

Dario Farotto was born in Milan in 1989. Ambitious engineer with strong interest in biomedical applications, he obtained his bachelor degree at Politecnico di Milano (It) in 2011 and his master degree at TU Delft (Nl) in 2014. The thesis, developed in collaboration with Leiden University Medical Center, was related to the estimation of joint admittance for clinical applications. In 2014 he worked for Philips research Eindhoven (Nl) on a project related with ECG reconstruction. Currently he’s a research scientist at Materialise (Be) and a PhD Candidate at KU Leuven under the MUSICA framework. The goal of his research activity is to develop novel methods to estimate material properties of aortic tissue with non-invasive methods, with a specific focus on thoracic aneurysms.
