Noemi Vanerio

PhD student @LIFETEC on Development of catheter-based light-enhanced therapies

Noemi Vanerio was born in Como (Italy) in 1990. She obtained her Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2012, with a thesis focused on the optimization of a measurement system aimed at evaluating the compliance of arterial and venous small and medium caliber human blood vessels in tissue engineering field. In 2015 she obtained her Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering – Biomechanics and Biomaterials – at Politecnico di Milano. Her master thesis focused on the design and development of a portable hemodialysis device and the characterization of the blood circuit in terms of reliability, hemolysis rate, functionality and efficiency in blood purification. Currently, she is a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at LifeTec Group (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) within the MUSICA (MUltiSectoral Integrative approaches to CArdiac care) project. Her research focuses on the design and development of a catheter-based device that will enable light-enhanced treatment of arteries from the lumen in minimally invasive therapies.
