Luca Barbarotta

PhD student @TU/e on Modeling tools for data extraction

Luca Barbarotta was born in Italy in 1987. He obtained his Master Degree in Mathematical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2014. During his master he worked on an imaging project where, with the help of other two colleagues, he developed a C++ parallel library for 3D medical images treatment. His master thesis main topic was the mathematical and numerical modelling of the human left ventricle applied to a patient specific reconstructed geometry. After his degree, he worked at EPFL as research assistant in the CMCS group where he carried on his work on cardiac mechanics and he contributed in the development of the electro-mechanical branch of the C++ finite elements parallel library LifeV. Currently, he is a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher and a PhD candidate at TU/e within the MUSICA project (MUltiSectoral Integrative approaches to CArdiac care). His research concerns data extraction and the patient specific modelling of cardiac electromechanics.
